PCF Group ranks #31 among Washington’s Best Workplaces for 2026

People Come First Construction Group earns Puget Sound Business Journal recognition based on the voices of its employees

There are awards that recognize what we build, but this one recognizes who we are while we build it.

People Come First Construction Group is proud to announce that we have been ranked #31 in Puget Sound Business Journal’s Washington’s Best Workplaces for 2026!

The final rankings were unveiled Thursday evening during the annual Washington’s Best Workplaces celebration at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park, bringing together companies from across the state that are setting the standard for exceptional workplace culture.

For PCF Group, this recognition carries special meaning because it wasn’t determined by a panel of construction experts or based on the projects we’ve completed. It came from our team of people.

What Makes a “Best Workplace”?

Nearly 200 Washington companies participated in this year’s Best Workplaces program. Employees completed an independent workplace satisfaction survey administered by Quantum Workplace. They answered questions about their work experiences including opportunities for growth, team dynamics, trust, respect, and the overall work environment.

Companies were then ranked according to employee feedback and engagement scores.

That makes being named one of Washington’s Best Workplaces—and earning the #31 ranking—particularly meaningful to us.

Our name is People Come First Construction Group. From the beginning, we have believed those words should represent far more than a company name; they should describe how we operate.

People Come First Starts With Our Own People

PCF Group has become known throughout the Pacific Northwest for building award-winning decks, patio covers, outdoor kitchens, railings, concrete, lighting, and complete outdoor living environments. But behind every beautiful project is a team of people who make it possible.

Our goal has always been to create a workplace where those people feel valued, trusted, challenged, supported, and given opportunities to grow.

That means investing in professional development and certifications. It means encouraging employees to explore new roles within the organization when their strengths or interests evolve. It means providing training and educational resources through PCF University. It means gathering employee feedback through surveys, Town Halls, and open conversations—and then being willing to act on what we hear.

It also means recognizing that our employees are people before they are job titles.

We want PCF to be a place where someone can build a career, develop as a leader, take on challenges they never thought possible, and know that their contribution matters to the success of the entire organization.

Building a Culture of Trust

A great workplace isn’t created by perks alone. It is created through trust.

At PCF, we strive to build a culture grounded in humility, transparency, accountability, and collaboration. Departments aren’t supposed to compete against one another; they are expected to support one another. Leaders aren’t expected to have every answer; they are expected to listen, learn, and help others become capable of finding solutions.

Mistakes aren’t hidden. We talk about them, learn from them, and work together to become better.

That philosophy ultimately affects much more than employee satisfaction. When people feel trusted and empowered at work, they bring that confidence into every customer interaction and every project they build.

A strong employee experience becomes a stronger customer experience.

Growing People, Not Just a Company

Some of our proudest moments have had very little to do with construction.

We’ve helped employees pursue professional certifications and continuing education. We’ve encouraged cross-training and career changes within PCF. We’ve supported employees as they pursued personal and professional goals.

Sometimes growth has even meant doing something completely outside our comfort zones.

When climbing Mt. Rainier was identified as a bucket-list goal for one of our team members, five members of PCF—including owner Robert Greaves—committed to the challenge. The company supported the experience, the team trained together, and ultimately they climbed together.

Experiences like that reinforce something we believe deeply: developing great employees means investing in the whole person.

When people are challenged, trusted, and given opportunities to accomplish things they once thought were beyond their reach, they return stronger.

#31 Belongs to Our Team

PCF Group has been fortunate to receive recognition for our craftsmanship, growth, community involvement, and outdoor living projects. Those honors mean a great deal to us.

But being recognized as one of Washington’s Best Workplaces is different.

This recognition reflects the experiences of the people who come to work every day and make PCF what it is.

So while our name may appear beside #31, this recognition belongs to every estimator, designer, project manager, craftsman, salesperson, administrator, leader, and team member who has helped shape our culture.

It also challenges us.

Being called a “Best Workplace” doesn’t mean we’ve arrived. It creates a responsibility to keep listening, keep improving, keep investing in our people, and keep building the kind of organization worthy of that distinction.

Because at the end of the day, People Come First isn’t something we want written only on our trucks, our buildings, or our website.

We want it to be something our employees experience.

And having our own people help place PCF Group among Washington’s Best Workplaces is one of the greatest confirmations we could receive that we’re building something meaningful together.

Congratulations to the entire PCF Group team on ranking #31 among Puget Sound Business Journal’s Washington’s Best Workplaces for 2026.
