We often get asked if aluminum covers, railings, or galvanized steel under-decking can be painted after installation. The short answer: it’s not recommended.
Painting over these products will void your warranty, since they already come with a durable, factory-baked finish designed to last. Adding another layer of paint compromises that protection and creates long-term maintenance issues.
From a financial standpoint, it also doesn’t make sense to paint a material that has already been manufactured with a high-quality finish.
If you absolutely feel the need to paint aluminum, the only acceptable option would be to use an oil-based paint. Still, we strongly advise against it because of the warranty impact.
