Virtual Reality at PCF Group’s Design Center

Customer using the VR at a PCF show.

July 3, 2025

With the launch of People Come First (PCF) Construction Group’s state-of-the-art Design Center in Kent, Washington, our customers are also able to experience our Virtual Reality (VR) simulator, which is a computer-based system that creates a simulated environment of your outdoor living project to interact with, using a VR headset and other peripherals.

What are the benefits of using VR for my outdoor living project?

Our VR simulator allows PCF Group clients to:

  • View their project to scale
  • Understand size, scope, layout, features, and color more realistically
  • Experience an immersive, realistic preview
  • Collaborate live with designers to make changes in real time

VR is available by appointment only and included in the Gold CAD package, at no additional cost.

Here’s an interactive VR example of the panorama views for one of our award-winning outdoor living projects by the Master Builders Association of Pierce County:

When can I see my project using the VR?

Since VR is included for our customers who purchase the Gold CAD package, here’s an overview of the timeline and expectations typically involved with that package to reach the VR experience:

  1. Project Start
  • Requirements to Begin:
    • Signed agreement
    • Initial deposit received
  • Internal Approval:
    • Our Senior Production Managers review and approve incoming project info (“firewalling”).
    • Once approved, the Senior Production Manager instructs the Field Quality Manager to perform a LiDAR scan.
  1. LiDAR Scan & CAD Prep
  • LiDAR Scan:
    • Conducted on-site using lasers to capture site details (heights, slopes, object positions).
    • Typically completed within 2–3 weeks of firewall approval.
  • CAD Team Processing:
    • Zoning compliance
    • Environmental Critical Areas (ECAs)
    • Permitting or engineering needs
    • Scans are stitched and converted into a compatible Revit file for modeling.
    • CAD also conducts site planning and property research concurrently with lidar site visit:
  • If third-party reports are needed (e.g., geotechnical, civil, or ecological), we’ll:
    • Inform you
    • Collect quotes
    • Schedule consultants upon your approval
  1. Initial Renderings
  • Renderings Due: Within 10 business days after CAD receives processed LiDAR data
  • Client Review Options (this step usually takes the longest and can stretch 3 to 4 times longer, depending on client engagement and coordination complexity):
    • Meet in-office
    • Discuss design, structural, and permitting aspects in real time
    • Request live edits, if possible
    • Provide revision requests
    • Schedule a Virtual Reality (VR) Meeting
  • Post-VR Meeting:
    • Final renderings are produced and sent for your approval

Booking the VR meeting requires coordinating across the client, sales team, and CAD team. Being patient with the process is worth your custom outdoor living project’s VR experience.
