The Build:

Building The Project

In the beautiful tech driven city of Redmond, WA—a community known for its connection to the outdoors, active families, and strong local sports culture—our Timberline Patio Covers team was brought in to help bring an ambitious backyard renovation to life. This project was part of a large-scale home transformation that included a two-story remodel, a new pool, and extensive hardscape improvements.

Working from the homeowner’s architect-designed plans, our role was to construct a free-standing double dormer Rainier Snoqualmie patio cover that would serve as the centerpiece of this new outdoor retreat. Every step required close coordination with the project’s general contractor and multiple specialty trades to ensure precision, structural integrity, and a seamless integration with the rest of the property’s upgrades.

The main structure spans over 940 square feet, supported by eight posts, with half anchored into a concrete stem wall and the others set on MPB footings. This combination created a solid foundation capable of supporting the impressive roofline while maintaining an open and elegant design. A Baker-style roof paired with a pine tongue-and-groove ceiling brought warmth and natural beauty to the structure—perfectly suited to Redmond’s Pacific Northwest aesthetic.

From an electrical standpoint, our partner Rock Electric ran power to a subpanel located behind the future outdoor fireplace. This allowed for clean integration of outlets, recessed lighting, and a smart-switch system that gives the homeowners complete control over lighting and ambiance.

Throughout construction, our team managed communication and coordination with multiple trades: concrete crews, fireplace installers, roofing contractors, and inspectors. Every element was scheduled and aligned to maintain efficiency, ensure safety, and protect the client’s long-term investment.

The Finished Project

The completed outdoor living space in Redmond, WA is nothing short of a showpiece—a perfect example of Northwest luxury and functionality coming together under one roof. The Rainier Snoqualmie–style patio cover, with its clean double-dormer lines and open ceiling design, ties seamlessly into a stunning backyard retreat that now includes a pool, pickleball court, and hot tub with a cascading fountain feature.

The metal roof system provides durable, all-season protection while maintaining a sleek architectural presence. Beneath it, the pine tongue-and-groove ceiling glows warmly under a combination of monopoint accent lights, a centerpiece chandelier, and subtle LED step lighting that highlights the hardscape at night. It’s a space that transforms beautifully from day to evening—inviting for morning coffee, poolside afternoons, or late-night gatherings with friends and neighbors.

The heart of this space is the fully equipped outdoor kitchen, featuring a NewAge modular assembly with Dekton countertops, an outdoor sink, Blaze outdoor oven, kegerator, and ample prep space for entertaining. Paired with Danver and teak outdoor furniture, the area combines modern design with comfort and durability—perfect for year-round hosting.

For those cooler Redmond evenings, the wood-burning fireplace and Bromic gas heaters provide the perfect warmth to keep gatherings going even as temperatures drop. A Sonos soundbar and outdoor TV complete the entertainment setup, ensuring this backyard is ready for both game days and movie nights.

Visually, the black Simpson brackets add striking contrast against the light-painted framing, while the grapevine privacy wall softens the edges with natural charm. Every design choice—down to the low-voltage LED accent lighting and weatherproof outlets—was made to elevate both aesthetics and functionality.

This backyard now stands as a true Pacific Northwest retreat—built for connection, comfort, and celebration. Whether hosting local sports team barbecues, relaxing after a day on the court, or gathering around the fireplace on a crisp fall evening, this space is designed to be lived in and loved in every season.
