We were excited to bring this client’s vision to life as they transformed their backyard into a stunning outdoor retreat. With a spacious yard and a blank slate behind their home, they had the ideal foundation to enhance their outdoor living. They expanded their modest deck into a sprawling, multi-level space designed for year-round enjoyment. Given the unique weather and frequent Pacific Northwest rain in Marysville, WA, their goal was to create a durable, all-season oasis that maximizes both function and style.

Starting this project required minimal preparation. We swiftly removed the old deck and a section of the siding to install a new ledger board. From there, framing and pouring the concrete footings went smoothly, setting the stage for a well-supported structure that could evenly distribute the deck’s weight.

With the framing in place, we moved on to the details—crafting picture-framed stairs and installing TimberTech Terrain composite decking. Using hidden fasteners for a clean, seamless look, our sister company, Rescom Railing, added the TimberTech railing with sleek aluminum pickets. As the decking and railing took shape, the transformation was well underway, but there was more to come.

To ensure the upper level remained dry, we installed an American Structure aluminum patio cover. Designed to resemble a classic pergola, it provides full rain protection while maintaining an elegant aesthetic. Retractable privacy and wind screens attached to the cover add versatility and comfort. Beneath the deck, UnderCover Systems installed their patented, award-winning system, creating a dry, usable space below.

Rock Electric joined the project to handle the electrical work, adding low-voltage lighting along the stairs and deck for ambiance and safety, along with well-placed outlets for future convenience.

We completed the transformation with a stunning Belgard paver patio, complemented by stone columns surrounding the deck posts. The finished result is a breathtaking outdoor space, built for beauty, durability, and year-round enjoyment.

This project quickly became the highlight of the neighborhood, redefining how the family enjoys their backyard while significantly enhancing their home’s value. With a Traeger smoker set up below the deck and a BBQ station on the upper level, both dry spaces are now ideal for outdoor cooking in any weather. The thoughtful design also incorporates plenty of seating areas across both levels, offering a versatile and inviting space for entertaining and relaxation.
