The Dream:
Before the Project
Nestled in the lush greenery of Woodinville, WA, this home sits surrounded by the Pacific Northwest’s rich tapestry of towering evergreens and vibrant foliage. The homeowners had an existing deck that had seen better days—years of exposure to the region’s wet and often harsh climate had taken its toll. Rot, wear, and structural concerns meant the space was no longer safe or enjoyable to use.
They dreamed of more than just replacing the old deck—they envisioned a durable, low-maintenance outdoor living area that could handle the challenges of the Northwest climate. More importantly, they wanted a space that would allow them to enjoy their serene backyard year-round, whether soaking up the summer sun, sipping coffee on a crisp autumn morning, or hosting gatherings sheltered from winter rain.
This was the beginning of a transformation—turning an unusable space into the ultimate outdoor retreat built to last.
The Build:
Building the Project
With the old, weathered deck fully demolished, our team began the transformation from the ground up—literally. We poured new, reinforced footers designed to support the substantial weight of the customer’s vision: a grand gable-style patio cover paired with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen. Engineering was key, as the deck needed to rise 9’4″ off grade and still provide unwavering stability for years to come.
We designed a two-level deck that seamlessly wraps around the home, maximizing every inch of outdoor living space. The upper deck offers the perfect balance of exposure and protection—half covered beneath the impressive Baker gabled roof with a 4×12 pitch, and half open to soak in the beautiful Northwest sunshine. The covered section provides year-round comfort, while the open space is ideal for warm summer gatherings.
To complete the design, we installed a sleek privacy railing, ensuring the homeowners can enjoy their new retreat with comfort and seclusion. Every beam, joist, and post was carefully crafted to bring their dream space to life—merging strength, style, and functionality.
The Result:
The Finished Product
The result is nothing short of a Northwest outdoor living masterpiece. Anchoring the design is a stunning gable-style patio cover, providing both architectural beauty and year-round shelter. Beneath it lies a TimberTech deck expertly installed by our MasterDecks Team, delivering a low-maintenance, weather-resistant surface built to handle Woodinville’s climate.
Framing the view, an ASD glass railing by our ResCom Railing Team creates a sleek, open feel while maintaining safety and durability. The covered section is a fully realized outdoor kitchen—complete with stainless steel hoods, Bromic heaters for all-season comfort, and 4×6 VELUX custom skylights that flood the space with natural light. Every detail is tailored for both function and luxury: a Lynx grill, Hideaway custom screens, aluminum railing gates with locks, Twin Eagles warming drawers, Le Griddle, and an American-made power burner.
The outdoor kitchen’s woodgrain facing adds warmth and texture, complemented by a durable metal roof overhead. For lighting and power, Rock Electric handled every electrical detail, installing recessed lighting and ensuring each appliance and feature was perfectly integrated.
From the craftsmanship of the framing to the finishing touches, this space now offers the homeowners endless possibilities—whether it’s grilling for friends, relaxing under the heaters in winter, or enjoying a summer sunset with unobstructed views of their backyard’s lush greenery.
