Multi-level Composite View Deck

In Seattle, Washington

The Dream:

Turning a dream into reality means recognizing the right opportunity and taking action. This customer longed to enjoy late evenings sipping wine while admiring Seattle’s skyline—just as they did from their rooftop. However, with the view limited to the roof, they turned to Masterdecks with a bold idea: a multi-level deck that would extend beyond the roofline. We embraced the challenge, swiftly designing the structure and securing all necessary permits to transform their vision into a stunning reality.

The Build:

We approached this project from the top down, balancing functionality with aesthetics. To provide sturdy support for the upper deck while maintaining a sleek design, we utilized Sky Lift to elevate a support beam into place. Once secured, we poured footers and framed the top deck.

Moving to the lower deck, we first removed the existing concrete steps leading into the house, making way for a new ledger board. The lower deck was then framed using the same posts supporting the upper level. Before constructing the ground-level platform deck, we poured additional concrete footers for stability.

To enhance functionality, our partners at Rock Electric ensured ample power for deck lighting and recessed can lights beneath the upper deck. Given the Pacific Northwest’s rainy climate, UnderCover Systems installed an under-deck ceiling, creating a dry, sheltered space beneath the elevated deck—ensuring year-round usability.

The Result:

The transformation is nothing short of spectacular! With TimberTech composite decking, we turned this backyard into a premier entertainment space. A sleek spiral staircase from Northwest Spiral Stair provides seamless access to the upper deck, while Rescom Railing installed an American Structures Design railing made of aluminum and glass, ensuring an unobstructed view of the stunning Seattle skyline.

Thoughtful details elevate the outdoor living experience. We incorporated Tacklife fire pits for cozy evenings, a Weber grill for ultimate outdoor cooking, and Armacost recessed lighting to create the perfect ambiance.

Take a look at these incredible photos and see the breathtaking view our customer now enjoys every day!
